Eco-Madness May Be Behind Tragic Boeing 737 MAX Safety Failures

 

When Swedish eco-pessimist Greta Thumberg cam to New York to shout, How dare you!" last month, she maintained her climate purity by traveling on a carbon-neutral, solar-powered yacht.
Now that she’s in Canada, the teen doomsayer hasn’t explained how she’ll travel 4,000 miles home to Sweden without flying.

She’s given up airplanes because she believes their greenhouse emissions drive cataclysmic climate change.


Air travel, which accounts for 2 percent of global emissions, has become the great bogeyman for climate alarmists, sparking a backlash against airlines.

Punitive eco-taxes, aviation regulations, activist investors, green NGOs, and climate-aware passengers conspire to force airlines and manufacturers to lower CO2 emissions by using less fuel, which accounts for 99 percent of aviation’s carbon footprint.

No one has said it explicitly yet, but this relentless pressure to reduce emissions appears to have been a significant factor in the disastrous safety failures of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which resulted in two fatal crashes in the past year,  claiming 346 lives.

The warning from Boeing’s catastrophes is that climate ideology can have fatal consequences.
The 737 MAX was trumpeted as “Boeing’s game-changer.” It reduced emissions by 14 percent and Boeing raced it into production to compete with a climate-friendly new offering from Airbus.

But in order to achieve its green goal, Boeing had to use much bigger engines that didn’t fit in the usual position under the wing of the repurposed, 53-year-old 737 design.
The engines had to be moved forward and hoisted higher.

As a result, the aerodynamics changed, and the planes had a tendency to pitch up and potentially stall on takeoff.

Boeing’s solution to this hardware defect was an imperfect software bandage that would automatically correct the pitch.

In both crashes, preliminary investigations found this software kicked in even when the plane wasn’t stalling, with lethal consequences.

To understand the 737 MAX fiasco, you must go back to 2011, when Boeing faced an existential challenge from Airbus’ low-emission A320neo, which had been developed under stringent new European aviation climate regulations.

American Airlines, an exclusive Boeing customer, was threatening to defect to the A320neo, as the New York Times reported. Three months later, Boeing announced the 737 MAX.

The eco-imperative for Boeing was more than woke posturing. Its customers, the airlines, were demanding better environmental performance because of regulations and mounting threats from climate-conscious institutional investors. Biofuels and electric planes aren’t yet viable, so fuel efficiency was the only option.

While aviation escaped inclusion in the 2015 Paris climate agreement, the following year, the UN’s International Civil Aviation Organization bound 191 member nations to reduce CO2 emissions by a colossal 50 percent by 2050 or spend 2 percent of revenues buying offsets.

In other words, airlines have to pay to plant trees to satisfy emission reduction targets. This buys them cover to expand the industry.

The decarbonization imperative for Boeing was clear. Carriers like United, which has vowed to become “the most environmentally conscious airline in the world,” rushed to buy the 737 MAX.
So did American Airlines, whose CEO boasted, “We’re much more environmentally friendly than United Airlines right now because we’ve invested in more fuel-efficient aircraft.”

This was the priority driving Boeing. Its 2018 report “Build Something Cleaner” featured the 737 MAX on the cover and boasted that the plane will “emit 305,040 fewer tons of CO2 and save more than 215 million pounds of fuel per year, which translates into more than $112 million in cost savings.”

Declaring its commitment to halving carbon emissions by 2050, it said, “Reducing emissions is aligned to our customers’ strategic desire to decrease fuel use, a major cost and priority in their purchasing decisions. Our customers increasingly require that Boeing’s products and services include environmentally progressive attributes.”

Investors, too, increasingly demand improved “carbon performance.”
In March, a study funded by airline investors with $13 trillion of assets under management chastised the aviation industry for not doing enough to fight climate change.

“As investors, we need clarity about [whether] the sector is to make its contribution to the goals of the Paris Agreement” was a typical comment from investment bank BNP Paribas.

The pressure on Boeing to deliver climate outcomes was relentless. A flawed retrofit design was the price when Boeing decided it couldn’t wait another decade to design a new aircraft.

Indonesia’s Lion Air was the 737 MAX’s first customer in 2012.

In 2018, one of Lion Air’s planes crashed, killing 189 people.

A year later, the 737 MAX fleet is still grounded.

Boeing has lost more than $25 billion in market value and this week belatedly replaced a senior executive, after messages came to light between senior pilots complaining about the 737 MAX software “running rampant” during a test simulation in 2016.

We need to know if safety considerations at Boeing took a back seat to produce a climate-friendly plane. There are implications for other companies.

After all, as Bernie Sanders says, “You cannot go too far on the issue of climate change. The future of the planet is at stake.”

If you believe the world is going to end in 11 years, the deaths of a few poor air travelers are a small price to pay for appeasing the climate gods.

Even CNN’s Jake Tapper, who is a heavily biased critic of the president, admitted earlier this year in response to Biden’s video that Trump did not call neo-Nazis and white supremacists “very fine people.”

Biden was confronted by Breitbart’s Joel Pollak over the false claim and Biden proceeded to explode on Pollak for confronting him on the lie.

Biden, on the other hand, has a history of praising racist segregationist Democratic Senators, stating that they were very civil.

If President Trump is impeached and convicted, the Senate should follow the Hastings precedent and not prevent him from running again for office.

The American electorate should   decide if trump should be reelected.

Remember the US Senate will set the impeachment trial rules.



Of the  17 historic impeachment proceedings brought against  judges and other officials who rank lower than president, 14 went to trial in the Senate and eight resulted in a guilty verdict.

In only three of those cases did the Senate bar – or "disqualify" – those who were convicted from holding office in the future.

If the US Senate convicts President Trump and he is removed from office and also "disqualifies" him from running from office again Trump can't be reelected.

So 3 things must happen if President Trump, Orange man, can't be reelected.

(1) The US Senate votes to convict President Trump on impeachment charges.

(2) The US Senate votes to remove Trump from office.

(3) The US Senate votes to bar President Trump from running for office again by disqualifing him.

THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

The result is Orange man, President Trump WILL be reelected in 2020 by a LANDSLIDE!!!!

Mark Levin compared Schiff's actions to a famous quote from Japanese Admiral Isoruku Yamamoto after Japan bombed the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941.

"After we were attacked at Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto of Japan said, 'I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve'.


"You know, Adam Schiff, you are in some ways Admiral Yamamoto: You just awakened a sleeping giant. You threw everything you had at the president, at the Republicans, at 63 million voters who voted for this president."

Levin said Schiff failed to gain any ground in his bid to prove Trump committee a high crime or misdemeanor worthy of impeachment, despite having control over the hearing rules and many of the witnesses.

Levin, a former chief of staff to Attorney General Edwin Meese, said that once Democrats craft articles of impeachment and vote to send the matter to the Senate for a trial, Schiff will be effectively stripped of his prominent role in the remainder of the process.

Senate Republicans will have the opportunity to call their own witnesses and that Trump and the White House will be able to defend themselves with counsel.

Levin described many of the witnesses who testified as "a small cabal of State Department and NSC bureaucrats who didn't like Trump or his policies," but were still unable to confirm the existence of bribery or extortion on the part of the president when pressed by Republican committee members.

He remarked that if the Democrats want to impeach a president for failing to offer sufficient aid to Ukraine, they should "retroactively impeach Obama."

"It was Trump who got the Ukrainians the weapons that they needed. It was Trump who stopped the Russians.

It was Trump who put the most severe sanctions in modern history on the Russians. It was Obama who appeased the Russians.

 It was Obama under whose presidency the Russians invaded Ukraine and annexed Crimea," Levin said.

Adam schiff asked ambassador sondland about what President Trump said in the phone conversation with the ukraine president.

Schiff didn't get the answer he wanted but got an answer that 100% reveals that schiff and the deep state bureaucrats etc have lied about the phone call and are continuing to lie.


Testifying in an impeachment hearing, Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, recounted his phone call with President Donald Trump in which the president said there was “no quid pro quo.”

 “It was a very short, abrupt conversation. He was not in a good mood and he just said, I want nothing, I want nothing, I want no quid pro quo,” Sondland said.

 The ambassador said he then relayed that message to Bill Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, “not to defend what the president was saying, not to opine on whether the president was being truthful or untruthful” but to express that he had done what he could to address Taylor’s concerns. 

Earlier in his Nov. 20 testimony, Sondland had said, however, that there was a 'quid pro quo' between Trump and the Ukrainian president.

I recently watched a youtube video about and actual dual engine failure in a citation jet.

It was an interview with the actual pilot who flew the jet after both engines failed.

He explains what happened and why it happened.

Near the end of the aviation video he mentioned that information about the dual engine failure was in all the aviation magazines but never reached the mass media.

There is a BIG reason the dual engine failure story in the citation jet never was reported in the mass media.

The mass media, or drive by media does not report what THEY DON"T WANT YOU TO KNOW!

The airline companies and other don't want the public to know that it just takes 1 idiot to put your life in danger when your a passenger in a jet.

ACTUAL DUAL ENGINE FAILURE IN A CITATION JET

On May 9th 2019, a Citation Medivac Flight with 4 crew and 3 passengers would experience a DUAL engine failure. The actions of the two pilots would determine the fate of all seven on board. This is their story......

The lineman, idiot, that fueled the plane was dismissed and the aircraft was deemed totaled. The DEF infiltrates the entire fuel system and the repair/replacement cost would exceed the airplane's value. In fact, the plane still sits in SAV today. Additionally, there was a second aircraft that departed the same airport that was also affected by the fuel contamination. I think he only lost one engine and was able to divert and land safely.

The pilot the safely landed the dual engine failure jet explained that a def container used for Diesel exhaust fluid was used to transport some prist, an anti acing agent, used in jet fuel to a 5 gallon drum on the jet fuel truck. A very small amount of diesel def additive is fatalto any jet engine.

Watching this video I learned that big jets can glide about 1/3 further than a smaller jet.

The pilot said that at 8,000 feet up he could glide about 16 miles in his jet.

A bigger jet at 8,000 miles could glide about 24 miles of approximately 1/3 further.

The pilot of the citation jet had been trained for a single engine failure but not a dual engine failure.

Also most of the jets surface controls were mechanical and not hydraulic.

If the jets surface controls were hydraulic and both engines failed he would have lost control of the jet.

He said the landing gear was hyfraulic but it had an emergency procedure in case of loss of hydraulic pressure to lowet the landing gear.

He did not need to use this because there was enough wind pressure going through the engine to allow for a limted amount of hydraulic pressure to lower the nose gear and landing gear.

The jet was able to land safely because it had few hydraulic surface controls and a pilot who knew what he was doing.

If the pilot had been less experienced or not kept cool under pressure the outcome would have been much different.

Also the wonderful grace of God also made all the difference!

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, questioned Bill Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, in the first public hearing in the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump. Jordan pressed Taylor on how he came to have a "clear understanding" that the U.S. aid to Ukraine was dependent on opening an investigation into Trump's political rivals.

Jordan said there was no "linkage" but Taylor said he came to his conclusion based on people he spoke to. The probe centers around a July phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. Both Kent and Taylor testified to lawmakers in October behind closed doors.

Democrats have become the party of thuggery, from the top leaders abusing President Trump as a traitor and criminal, to the Antifa black shirts beating up Trump supporters in Democrat cities. The ginned up hysteria over Trump’s election has grown with Trump’s triumphant successes with the economy and national security.

The Democrats’ motivation for the fake impeachment crisis is obvious—they have no platform and no candidate that gives them a path to the White House. What is less obvious is why three years of ugly, crude propaganda, threatened and actual violence, wearisome agitation and lies is playing so well to previously normal Democrats.

The Democrat Party has veered far left very fast, without any pushback from within the party. Their voters have turned, seemingly overnight, from normal American citizens to a deranged mob after Trump’s blood. This weird transformation is normalized by blaming it on Trump himself, and the shock of his victory.

A moment’s reflection shows how superficial that derangement explanation is.
Trump did not make the Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders a powerful political force in 2016. He is not responsible for Elizabeth Warren’s desire to confiscate people’s wealth. Trump did not cause the majority of Democrats to reject freedom of speech and religion, or to prefer socialism to capitalism. How did those radicals become so powerful that they now dominate the party leadership?

There is nothing in what Trump has done as president that explains the unconstitutional attacks against him. It is the reverse—the attempt to frame and entrap President Trump and his team as traitors with Russia, was begun by the Obama DOJ, FBI, CIA and White House before his inauguration. It was the Obama Administration’s actions that necessitated the all-out attempt to delegitimize President Trump before he could expose them.

President Trump did nothing to provoke the Obama intelligence community framing him as a Russian traitor. You have to look at President Obama to understand this unprecedented attempt to overturn a presidential election. Our press, including most of the conservative press, has always been unwilling to focus on Obama, and the Marxist forces he unleashed in American politics.

We can’t even use the word Marxist without the taint of supposed “McCarthyism.” Better to use vague terms such as “radical” or “Left,” or better still, avoid the deeper issues by calling the war against our president “derangement.”

The Mueller investigation and the phony impeachment would have been impossible without #TheResistance insisting on radical partisanship. The propaganda war against Trump hasn’t touched his loyal, grateful, voters, but it has turned normal Democrats into mindless haters.

There is nothing so terrible about President Trump that he can’t be treated fairly and rationally by the press and his opponents. Derangement is a choice. It is a strategy. It is true that President Trump often breaks norms of how politicians talk. He is rude. He does troll his opponents and purposely make them lose control. At the same time, his policies and his achievements are centrist; they would have been acceptable if a President Clinton proposed them.

Trump is obnoxious to his political opponents, but he is also warm, charming, and funny. He is loving and protective towards ordinary Americans of all colors, genders and sexual preferences, new citizens and old. He has off-the-charts common sense and patriotism, and plain speaking.

The president’s reality-based policies on energy, regulation, trade, job creation, and China have made each of us more prosperous and safer. These are not distant achievements. Trump has made the lives of ordinary people better in concrete ways that can’t be hidden by Democrat talking points, by bringing the working class and unemployed jobs, fighting crime, and controlling our southern border. And he would have done more if not for Democrat obstruction. He has done more to help the poorest Americans achieve a better life than any president in living memory.

Ordinary Democrats’ extreme hatred of Trump and his supporters is far from normal. Insisting we enforce immigration laws on the books is not the second coming of Hitler. Democrats genuinely believe it is. They talk themselves into nonsense, while Trump is gains popularity among Hispanic voters (who made up 30 percent of the audience at his rally in New Mexico). The fact that Presidents Clinton and Obama both urged securing our borders makes no difference. When Trump obeys American law, he is evil.

I asked a neighbor, a Democrat moderate, why he hated President Trump. His answer: Charlottesville.
The idea that Trump praised neo-Nazis after Charlottesville is an outright lie about what the president said. It is easily rebutted by the videos and transcripts, but—typical of the propaganda-inflamed mob—rebutting the lie makes absolutely no difference. My neighbor “knows” Republicans are racists and nothing will shake that belief.

This is a huge winning propaganda stroke for the Democrats. My neighbor actually agrees with the president’s policies on the border, on China, knows the economy is doing well, can see the country is at peace—none of that matters, he thinks Republicans are deplorable racists.

We accept Democrats despising Republicans as racist as though it were normal, but we shouldn’t. Republicans believe what every decent American believed during the Civil Rights era—that everyone should be treated equally regardless of race, period.

The Democrats’ conviction that half the country, led by Donald Trump, is white supremacist in its outlook is just plain weird. Trump was elected by winning over Midwestern voters, the salt of the earth, who had previously voted for Obama. Trump’s rhetoric on race has been unifying, not divisive, typified by his favorite phrase, “whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots, we all enjoy the same glorious freedoms, and we all salute the same great American Flag.” Remember his great line in his inaugural address: “When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice. The Bible tells us, ‘How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.’”

Trump’s actions on race follow his rhetoric. Whether it is with mainstream economic opportunity zones in the inner city, or his response to the black communities desire for incarceration reform, or his economic policies which have helped minorities more than any other segment of the population, his policies show a deep commitment to helping the black community.
Yet good-hearted Democrats “know” Trump is divisive, and that it is their party which brings the country together.

The number of Democrat liberals fighting back against the libel, the hate, and hard leftists taking over over their party is miniscule. Alan Dershowitz comes to mind. I know there are a few others, but I can’t recall them at the moment.

What is going on?

“How evil is the left? This evil,” John Hinderaker wrote after the “appalling” Antifa attacks on Trump supporters and police in “nice” Minnesota. But not a single Democrat politician or media voice finds the violence appalling. Just the opposite—a Democrat legislator participated in the riot, while others, including U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), tweeted their approval.

“Are there any moderate Democrats left?” Hinderaker asked.

It’s an important question. Why aren’t Democrats fighting for their own party—and our country—against the hostile takeover by the Left?

SAN FRANCISCO – In a lighted garage on one of San Francisco's busiest streets, a young man in baggy trousers and messy brown hair pulled down his pants. He had been hiding two pairs of stolen jeans with the tags still on them. He handed them to another man waiting nearby, took some money, pulled up his pants and headed back into another store on Market Street — home to the city's high-end designers and big-chain retail shops.

The incident wasn't a one-off. These brazen acts of petty theft and shoplifting are a dangerous and all-too-common consequence of Proposition 47, a referendum passed five years ago that critics say effectively gives shoplifters and addicts the green light to commit crimes as long as the merchandise they steal or the drugs they take are less than $950 in value.

The decision to downgrade theft of property valued below the arbitrary figure from felony to misdemeanor, together with selective enforcement that focuses on more “serious” crimes, has resulted in thieves knowing they can brazenly shoplift and merchants knowing the police will not respond to their complaints, say critics.

Over in the City by the Bay's famous Tenderloin district, Cassie, a 21-year-old mother of two and a former heroin junkie, told Fox News that when times were tough, she too has stolen from stores.

"If my babies need diapers or formula, who is going to get that for me? No one. I have to do it," she said. "They ain't out here arresting people for (shoplifting) and everyone knows it."

Proposition 47 is seen by critics as one of California's biggest blunders. Supported by the state Democratic Party and championed by the American Civil Liberties Union, the referendum was passed by a wide margin in 2014. The idea behind it was to reduce certain non-violent felonies to misdemeanors in order to free up resources for cops and prosecutors to focus on violent offenders.
