On Tuesday 10/2-2020 it was announced that its REGN-COV2  has shown positive results in clinical trials.

In the first results published from the phase 1/2/3 study, Regeneron said that in the first 275 trial patients, REGN-COV2 "reduced viral load and the time to alleviate symptoms in non-hospitalized patients with COVID-19."

Those patients were all afflicted with mild to moderate COVID-19, the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Two different REGN-COV2 doses were administered to two distinct patient populations -- one seropositive (able to produce an immune response on their own) and the other seronegative (unable to do so adequately).

Significant side effects were only apparent in two patients, Regeneron said, and those individuals were taking placebos.

This is the only thing that is logical to me about President Trump getting the covid-19.

How long do covid-19 symptoms last?

• Other symptoms of COVID-19 are also improving or are gone

Being completely cleared wouldn’t happen any sooner than 14 days, though, since the virus’ incubation period is two weeks. That is why you are required to quarantine for a full two weeks in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This also means you did not need to take a covid-19 diagnoastic test in the first place.

The most used test to determine if someone has COVID-19, known as a PCR test, is either positive or negative, that’s it. But the test does not identify the viral load — the greater the amount of virus, the more likely it is that the patient is contagious.

 

 Health experts told the paper the current PCR test is too sensitive and should be improved so that it will determine the viral load — which would then rule out those with insignificant amounts of the virus.

 

 

“It turns out that the PCR, that old reliable workhorse, is both too slow and too sensitive for what we need. And it all hinges on a metric called the ‘cycle threshold,'” she wrote in another post.

The current PCR test analyzes genetic matter from the virus using 37 or 40 cycles, but health experts say that is too high because it detects even small amounts of the virus that pose no risk of contagion.

“Tests with thresholds so high may detect not just live virus but also genetic fragments, leftovers from infection that pose no particular risk — akin to finding a hair in a room long after a person has left,” Dr. Michael Mina, an epidemiologist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, told the paper.

During the trip Biden delivered an address to members of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing stationed at the Al-Dhafra Air Base near Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

As part of the visit, Biden was introduced by 1st Lt. Karen Johnson of the 380th’s Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. Given that Lt. Johnson was a native of Delaware and had secured her appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy through Biden’s former Senate office, the vice president tried to use that history as a means to break the ice with the more than 1,000 service members present.

“Notwithstanding what you may hear about me, I have incredibly good judgment,” Biden said. “One, I married Jill and two, I appointed Johnson to the academy.”

“I just want you to know that, so clap for that you stupid bastards,” Biden added to laughter from the crowd. “Man, you all are a dull bunch. It must be slow here, man.”
