Honey is associated with wisdom and our physical health

This is another tip for survival. Honey is what everyone should have in their stored food supply. Raw honey has everything needed to sustain life, everything. Raw honey is the concentrated nectar of flowers that comes straight from the extractor; it is the only unheated, pure, unpasteurized, unprocessed honey. Raw honey never goes bad. It doesn't have an expiration date! Its the ultimate survival food.

Prov 16:24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Psalms 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Psalms 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Sugar is good, but honey is far more beneficial to our physical health. It should come as no surprise, then, that honey is associated with the acquisition of wisdom.

Prov 24:13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

Prov 24:14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Matt 3:4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

Luke 24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

Luke 24:43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

Honey is the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and water; and it's the only food that contains "pinocembrin", an antioxidant associated with improved brain functioning.

Of all of the creatures created by God, the little honeybee is one of the most amazing and useful. While of course it is generally best known for the honey that it produces, the honeybee is a vital part of nature. While gathering nectar from flowers, the honeybee also helps to transfer pollen from plant to plant, which enables their flowers to ripen into many kinds of fruit that we eat. Still more proof that "nature" didn't just happen after a "big bang" creation event - it was all planned and designed by our Creator.

Honey was common in Bible History. It was the primary source of sugar for the ancient Israelites. It was also used in baking, to make mead (a fermented beverage), and was sometimes mixed with wine. The Ancient Egyptians also used honey as an embalming substance. Honey is mentioned widely through The Bible: probably the honey of wild bees.

Raw honey is the healthiest choice amongst the various forms of honey as it has the most nutritional value and contains amylase, an enzyme concentrated in flower pollen which helps predigest starchy foods like breads.

Most of the honey found in the supermarket is not raw honey but "commercial" regular honey, which has been pasteurized (heated at 70 degrees Celsius or more, followed by rapid cooling) and filtered so that it looks cleaner and smoother, more appealing on the shelf, and easier to handle and package.

Pasteurization kills any yeast cell in the honey and prevents fermentation. It also slows down the speed of crystallization in liquid honey. On the downside, when honey is heated, its delicate aromas, yeast and enzymes which are responsible for activating vitamins and minerals in the body system are partially destroyed. Hence, raw honey is assumed to be more nutritious than honey that has undergone heat treatment.

While one of the greatest facts on honey storage is that it doesn't spoil even with no preservatives and additives, liquid honey is susceptible to physical and chemical changes during storage; it tends to darken and lose some of its aroma and flavor. Over time, liquid honey also tends to naturally crystallise - a process where the honey appears to be thickened, become lumpy and grainy (see the image below). Crystallisation is easily reversible and does not affect the taste and quality of the honey at all, although it adversely changes its appearance.

Honey has been used for centuries for its healing properties and sweet flavor. Honey is much sweeter than table sugar and is better for you.

When possible, it’s best to buy locally grown, organic, raw honey. This will be produced by bees in or near the environment you live. Consuming foods from the area you live is beneficial as they contain the immune stimulating properties needed for your body to adapt to its environment.

Fresh, raw honey will also be tastier, and more potent. When you buy from local independent farmers you help your local economy.

Wildflower Honey is a blend of pollens and nectars from a Spring mix of local blooming plants. This blend is the type of honey that many people believe is helpful for combating their spring allergies.

Honey contains a natural presence of botulinum endospores, therefore, children under one year old should not be given honey. Before the age of twelve months, a child’s intestinal tract is not mature enough to inhibit the growth of Clostridium botulinum, which is often found in honey. No honey, in any form, should be given to babies younger than one.
