About the covid-19 antibody test

Editor Note:

Is the corona virus antibody test a good idea?

Is the  covid-19 antibody test accurate?

NO and NO.

A test that some believe could bring an end to the coronavirus lockdown is available in certain cities.

COVID-19 antibody tests are designed to let you know if you've been in contact with the virus in the past, and if your body has developed a possible immunity to it.

Across the world, there's hope that this kind of testing could reopen society and send millions of people back to work with 'immunity badges'.

ARCpoint Labs offers a blood test for COVID-19 antibodies. Its $75.00 and a waste of time.

WHY?

"It tests for the two antibodies which are the response to the COVID-19 virus," said Scott Lambert, president of ARCpoint Labs St. Louis West.

Those antibodies could provide a level of immunity.

"If it acts like other viruses similar to COVID-19, you would typically expect a level of immunity of six months to a year," said Lambert.

Note these 2 key words, "could" and "if".

More than 70 companies are selling these tests now that the FDA has waived its initial review process due to the pandemic.

"It's a little bit concerning to me," said Dr. Alex Garza, Commander of the St. Louis Metropolitan Pandemic Task Force. "You really have to be confident in the accuracy of the test. The only way to do that is to validate it in some place like our lab."

"What we're finding is that everyone wants to make good decisions. There's just no data to help them do it," said Lambert.

Yet, Lambert says the test does have limitations.

HERE IS WHY THE ARC LABS COVID-19 TEST IS USELESS!!!!

"The antibody tests are not able to distinguish whether the antibodies were generated in response to COVID-19 or several other non-SARS-COV-2 coronavirus strains such as HKU1, NL63, OC43 or 229E," said Lambert.

He explains that information is part of the disclaimer element on the Guidelines form patients receive.

* Important Information  ARC LABS DISCLAIMER *

The Antibody test is a serology test which measures the amount of antibodies or proteins present in the blood when the body is responding to a specific infection.

This test hasn’t been reviewed by the FDA.

Negative results don’t rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus.

Follow-up testing with a molecular diagnostic lab should be considered to rule out infection in these individuals.

The second serological test will also not be conclusive, see information below about Serological tests.

Results from antibody testing shouldn’t be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Positive results may be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E.

While the presence of antibodies doesn't necessarily prevent future infections, they can reduce the severity of future infections of the current COVID-19 strain.

______________________________

Some doctors  worry that since the test is not able to look for Covid-19 antibodies specifically, there could have been several subtypes of coronavirus in circulation which some people may have been exposed too already.

That could give people a false sense of security.

ARCpoint's medical staff says that the presence of the antibodies from another stain may provide a level of protection from the Covid-19 virus.

Here are 2 more key words , "could" and "may".

There are a few types of positive results. You can have one of the antibodies, IgM, which may indicate you're still battling the virus and still contagious.

If you only test positive for the IgG antibody, that could indicate you're over the infection. If you test positive for both IgM and IgG, it is likely you are in the middle stage of infection.

Here again is the word "may".

Here again is the word "if".

Here is another ambiguous  word "likely".

am•big•u•ous ăm-bĭg′yoo͞-əs

  • adj.
Open to more than one interpretation.
  • adj.
    Doubtful or uncertain.
  • Of doubtful or uncertain nature; wanting clearness or definiteness; difficult to comprehend or distinguish; indistinct; obscure.

So to recap information about the arc labs antibody test for corona virus:

If you get the test the results may, if, likely or could be of some use but don't rely on the $75.00 test because the results are only AMBIGUOUS - doubtful or uncertain or indistinct or obscure.

IN OTHER WORDS   The arc lab corona virus antibody test is TOTALLY USELESS!!!!!

What is uselful is this:

If you have had the covid-19 virus and know for sure you have had it you have built up antibodies to the covid-19 virus.

Additional information.

Serological tests measure the amount of antibodies or proteins present in the blood when the body is responding to a specific infection, like COVID-19.

In other words, the test detects the body’s immune response to the infection caused by the virus rather than detecting the virus itself.

In the early days of an infection when the body’s immune response is still building, antibodies may not be detected.

Here we go again with the key word, "may".

This limits the test’s effectiveness for diagnosing COVID-19 and why it should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose COVID-19.

serological tests for corona virus

Serological tests can play a critical role in the fight against COVID-19 by helping healthcare professionals to identify individuals who have overcome an infection in the past and have developed an immune response.

In the future, this may potentially be used to help determine, together with other clinical data, that such individuals are no longer susceptible to infection and can return to work.

In addition, these test results can aid in determining who may donate a part of their blood called convalescent plasma, which may serve as a possible treatment for those who are seriously ill from COVID-19.

This is why Vice President Mike Pence called on the laboratory community to develop serological tests for COVID-19.

Here are other  AMBIGUOUS words:

"may", "potentially", "possible".

Americans don't trust test results that may potentially or possibly could be of some use etc etc!!!

The FDA isn't helping anything by allowing tests that are UNCERTIFIED!

In March, the FDA issued a policy to allow developers of certain serological tests to begin to market or use their tests once they have performed the appropriate evaluation to determine that their tests are accurate and reliable.

This includes allowing developers to market their tests without prior FDA review if certain conditions outlined in the guidance document are met. The FDA issued this policy to allow early patient access to certain serological tests with the understanding that the FDA has not reviewed and authorized them.

The FDA can also authorize tests for COVID-19 under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). To date, FDA has authorized one EUA for a serological test that is intended for use by clinical laboratories.

Since the FDA issued the policy, over 70 test developers have notified the agency that they have serological tests available for use.

However, some firms are falsely claiming that their serological tests are FDA approved or authorized, or falsely claiming that they can diagnose COVID-19.

The FDA will take appropriate action against firms making false claims or marketing tests that are not accurate and reliable.

Here is another AMBIGUOUS word, "will".

So what does a person do?

If you have an immune system that is not in good condition you need to limit exposure to other people!

If you have a healthy immune system and no other underlying health risks you can go out in public and be exposed to potentially, here is another ambiguous word, the corona virus.

If you are healthy and no underlying health conditions don't be afraid to get the corona virus.

Your most likely going to get it anyway.

The younger you are and the better your immune system is the more likely you will have mild corona virus symptoms!

GO OUT AND ENJOY LIFE IF YOU FIT THIS PROFILE!!!!!
