President Obama, at both the first abysmal debate and the third, opened his remarks by declaring that it was his primary duty as president “to keep Americans safe.”

Obama wants "to keep Americans safe" by taking away their ability to own or purchase certain firearams.
Obama thinks he can defend Americans by causing them to be "armed to the teeth".
What did the term "armed to the teeth" originate?
The term originated in Port Royal Jamaica in the 1600s when pirates were constantly looking for ships to loot and their guns were very primitive. As a result, pirates could shoot only once before a long reloading process. Consequently, they needed to carry a gun in each hand, and also perhaps in each pocket. For extra power, they would also hold a knife between their teeth. So to be 'armed to the teeth' means to carry the maximum number of weapons possible.

Obama wants Americans to be armed like pirates. He wants Americans to own guns that SHOOT ONLY ONCE!
Obama wants Americans to be "armed to the teeth" with a one shot gun in each hand and each pocket.
Obama wants Americans to bite the bullet and take a hit from him. Obama wants to ignore the US Constitution 2nd amendment that gives Americans the right to own and bear firearms.
It doesn't say you must own a one shot firearm to defend yourself from a criminal or the government!
Americans who are well armed with various firearms will be prepared to defend themselves against criminals including the government criminals who want to take away you ability to defend yourself.
If obama bans certain kinds of guns don't worry. Just keep buying every gun and ammo box you can get your hands own.
The more guns you own the better.
Criminals don't register guns only citizens who buy them at gun dealers do.
Obama can't require criminals to register guns.
Obama can only require Americans who obey the law to register guns.
Obama is in effect arming criminals to the teeth and he knows this. He is a criminal.

That the fabricated term "assault weapon" has become the household expression for describing a semi-automatic, detachable magazine-fed rifle is a triumph for the virulently anti-gun Violence Policy Center, which has for decades contributed to and exploited the public's lack of knowledge about these guns in order to demonize them, as they've openly acknowledged since 1988:
The weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons--anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun--can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons.
