When a Navajo Code Talker received a message, it was what appeared to be a bunch of unrelated Navajo words. He first had to translate each Navajo word into its English version. He then used only the first letter of the English equivalent in spelling an English word. As an example, the Navajo words “wol-la-chee” (ant), “be-la-sana” (apple) and “tse-nill” (axe) all stood for the letter “a.” One way to say the word “Navy” in Navajo code would be “tsah (needle) wol-la-chee (ant) ah-keh-di-glini (victor) tsah-ah-dzoh (yucca). ............................................

Each letter is a Navjo word. Each Navjo word is translated into english. Only the first letter of the translated english word is used to read the code.

The Navajos have never stopped speaking their native Athabaskan language, unlike many other native peoples who are trying to revive their languages. The Navajo language is spoken only on the Navajo reservation in the southwestern United States, and until recently was an unwritten language. It is an extremely complex language with no alphabet or symbols. It is very reflective of the Navajo way of life and their world. To be able to speak Navajo, one must have extensive exposure and training.
Navajo is a tonal language, meaning the vowels rise and fall when pronounced, changing meaning with pitch. There are four separate tones of voice used: low, high, rising, and falling. Two separate words with different meanings may therefore have the same pronunciation but with different tones. Some Navajo words are also nasalized, meaning that the sound comes through the nose instead of the mouth. The following is a simplified guide to the pronunciation of vowels.
The Navajo language is very difficult for non-Navajos to understand because of the precise way in which one object relates to another. These relationships may seem unimportant to outsiders, but are exceptionally important to the Navajos. Their view of life, which is that everything they do and that happens to them is related to the world around them, is very apparent in the way they speak. For example, a Navajo would not say, "I am hungry," but instead would say, "Hunger is hurting me." It has been said that in Navajo, words paint a picture in your mind.

Obamacare puts employers with grandfathered plans in a box. If they make changes to their plans to control increasing costs, they will lose their grandfathered status. Alternatively, if they keep grandfathered status by not making changes, their plans will eventually become unaffordable, forcing them to give them up.
Either way, their employees will eventually lose their current coverage.

The federal registerfinal rules on grandfathered plans, which states that the “mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013.” They also include high-end estimates that 80 percent of small employer plans and 64 percent for large employer plans will lose grandfathered status.

“President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people,” Eastwood told The Pine Cone. “Romney and Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that’s what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.”

Democratic Party or state elections officials certifying Obama’s eligibility for the 2012 election could be charged with election fraud.
Former U.S. Justice Department attorney Larry Klayman who founded the government watchdog Judicial Watch explains in a letter that election officials can not be certain of Obama’s eligibility, and the law doesn’t allow them to make assumptions.
The letter to Robert Bauer, general counsel to the Democratic National Committee, points to evidence of Obama’s ineligibility that would make letters from the DNC to states regarding his candidacy problematic.
“There is therefore no longer any state or national official in the Democratic Party who can escape legal responsibility for ignoring the proof herein provided, and a plea of ignorance of the facts will no longer be possible, especially under the informed legal counsel provided by you (and your state counterparts), Mr. Bauer,” Klayman wrote.
“At the same time that you are receiving this legal analysis, each DNC Executive Committee member – as well as each state Democratic Party chair, secretary of state, and state attorney general – is receiving a certified letter advising them of the legal jeopardy in which they place themselves should they proceed – in light of the facts herein presented – to certify to state or national election officials that Barack Hussein Obama is the constitutionally and legally qualified Democratic candidate for president of the United States.”
Such verifications, if created, would be “perjurious,” Klayman said.
The evidence Klayman cites in the letter includes Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett’s highly publicized request of the state of Hawaii to verify that the likely Democratic nominee is a “natural-born citizen.”
Bennett eventually closed his inquiry without obtaining any pertinent documentation.
Bennett formally inquired of Hawaii for verification of Obama’s birth records, and when he received a statement from state officials announced his inquiry was closed.
“As to whether the president was born in Hawaii, personally I believe he was,” he said. “I actually think he was fibbing about being born in Kenya when he was trying to get into college.”
But Bennett said all clearly was not above board.
“I think he has spent $1.5 to $2 million through attorneys to have all the college records and all that stuff sealed,” Bennett said. “So if you’re spending money to seal something, that’s probably where the hanky panky was going on.”
Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio continues to investigate Obama’s eligibility after determining that the image of a birth document posted online by the White House is fraudulent.
Hawaii State Registrar Alvin Onaka “failed” to provide verification to Bennett of Obama’s birth information.
He did, however, verify that “the information in the copy of the Certificate of Live Birth for Mr. Obama that you attached with your request matches the original record in our files.”
Mr. Onaka undeniably failed to verify that the image posted at whitehouse.gov “is a true and accurate representation of the original record.”
But Klayman explained state law requires Onaka to furnish “in lieu of the issuance of a certified copy, a verification of the existence of a certificate and any other information that the applicant provides to be verified.”
Klayman said the law leaves Onaka with no option and “the only legal reason for Onaka to not verify those facts is if he can’t legally do so. Since he verified that those claims are on the record in the DOH files, the record itself must not have ‘probative value.’
“The only legal reason for not verifying that the posted long-form ‘is a true and accurate representation of the original record in [the DOH] files’ is if it is not. There is no other plausible explanation,” Klayman said.
Klayman said the only Hawaii statute allowing birth certificates “to be non-legally binding” is the law regarding “late” or “altered” certificates, which states: “The probative value of a ‘late’ or ‘altered’ certificate shall be determined by the judicial or administrative body or official before whom the certificate is offered as evidence.”
“Unless and until Mr. Obama’s original birth record, on file with the Department of Health in Hawaii, is presented as evidence to a judicial or administrative body or official, it cannot legally be considered to have probative value. In other words … it cannot stand alone without further corroboration, as required by an ‘administrative body or official,” Klayman wrote.
Klayman’s conclusion is that “no one can state with any legal certainty that candidate Obama is even old enough to be president, much less that he meets the exclusively high bar of ‘natural-born citizen’ status, required by Article II, Section I, Clause 5.”
He noted at this point, “No one can legally swear that Mr. Obama is constitutionally eligible to be president; and because the DNC bylaws require the Democratic presidential candidate to be constitutionally eligible, there is also, therefore, no party official who can legally swear that Mr. Obama is the ‘legally qualified candidate’ of the Democratic Party, under its own bylaws.”
Perjury
For a party official to declare Obama eligible “would be to perjure him or herself,” he wrote.
Klayman told Bauer that in 2008 the Hawaii Democratic Party “removed the standard language heretofore employed certifying the ‘constitutional eligibility’ of candidates Obama and Biden.”
“In other words, the state party most keenly aware of Mr. Obama’s existing records would not (and did not) certify their constitutional eligibility,” he said. However, at the same time, “then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, did certify their constitutional eligibility [to present] to election officials in Hawaii, while removing that same standard language [when it was] presented in at least some (if not all) of the remaining states.”
Klayman, whose high-profile legal career has included lawsuits against OPEC, Cuban interests, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez, told WND the letter puts Democrats on notice that certifying Obama’s eligibility without having the actual knowledge opens them up to liability for making false statements.
WND reported early in Obama’s term on the Democrats’ certification of Obama’s eligibility for the 2008 election.
A commentator at Canada Free Press first exposed the Democratic National Committee used two separate forms to affirm Obama’s constitutional eligibility to be president and then said Democrats failed to certify their candidate’s eligibility in 49 of the 50 states.
“In most states,” Williams wrote, “it appears that the DNC never certified constitutional eligibility for Barack Hussein Obama, despite their many claims of proper vetting and certification, all of which we now know to be false.”
Williams posted copies of two documents apparently prepared by Democrats to certify Obama as their nominee for president, one that contains language affirming his constitutional eligibility and filed in Hawaii (where state law requires the specific language) and another omitting the language and filed in the remaining 49 states.
The first includes a verification that Obama and Joe Biden, then candidate for vice president, “are legally qualified to serve under the provisions of the United States Constitution.”
The second form obtained by Williams appears identical, but in this one, the verification of eligibility under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution is gone.

Apparently the movement for real reform, via the Tea Party and Ron Paul related efforts are perceived a threat to power, so the Republican National Committee may be destroying their party as this is read.
Their massive rule changes are to be voted up or down by the delegates at the RNC Tuesday, one day delayed thanks to Hurricane Isaac. It is an attempt to wrest any remaining control of the presidential nominating process and the final selection of delegates, from state parties and their official, volunteer participants.
Both parties’ presidential selections have already become exercises in achieving predetermined outcomes. This is done through the aggregation of massive money, most from the central bankster connected flow of dollars, in the People’s meant-to-be-free economy. This in turn buys highly tuned mass psyop measures, including the character assassination of competing candidates who should be respected as allies.
A concomitant effect is vote suppression, through the alienation of those turned off by the control and corruption involved and the accumulated effect of attack advertising and robocall harassment. The fewer the independent-minded participants, the easier the rest are managed, after all. Call it political process population reduction.
This rule change would seal the deal for top-down control through mob rule. Any “Republican” should know that complex societies ordered by centralized democratic means always fail to despotism. That is the very reason we have republican government instead – and why we must have a more participatorilly republican Republican Party, not less so.
If this rule change is adopted, the GOP will have thoroughly become a mere means of authoritarianism by process, to match up with the same of the Democratic Party, in the controlled dialectic.
If this rule change is adopted, the GOP must be replaced, abandoned to the way of the Whigs straightaway, a potential to which Sarah Palin has just referred.
Means must be found to break the controlled dialectic of the two-party system, of which George Washington in his own way, warned.
In practice, Rule 12 would enable an RNC chairman to enact almost any rules change he or she desired, because an RNC chairman already has so much power and influence that he or she can almost always can get 75% or more of the RNC members to vote for or against anything. A chairman already has the enormous “power of the purse,” and should not have also the power to change party rules at will.
A compromise of sorts was reached last night, but it leaves standing “Rule 12,” which allows the RNC central committee to change the rules with a 75% vote between conventions. That in turn, would set an objective for despots’ work. That kind of rule is essentially the party rule familiar to communist nations. In such central committees, corruption establishes the committee membership and the chairman tends to dictate.
The autonomy of the GOP’s state committees, in the selection of delegates and the freedom of their nomination votes, constitute the only flimsy shield left against United States Presidents being simply selected by the devastatingly corrupt money control of the world banking network, through vote-controlling propaganda techniques, political crony graft, intimidation, extortion, and the power of “inevitability.” Witness the Romney campaign of 2012.
If that shield of republican process is shattered, there is no Republican Party and the sham operation hiding behind that name must be abandoned.

I've been a bit hesistant to write this page, because I really didn't want to promote a special brand of compasses or anything. What kind of compass one should buy is a major concern of those who e-mail me, so I figured I would give some advices.
First, I want to emphasize that, while I have tried quite a few types of compasses, they haven't been made by many different manufacturers, and the list of compasses I present here will necessarily be reflecting the fact that I am in one of the Nordic countries, and I know the compasses manufactured around here the most. That doesn't necessarily mean compasses made in e.g. the US or Australia are any worse, I just don't know them.
Finally, my area are orienteering and compasses for hikers. I have very little experience with e.g. naval compasses (though I have tried it too).
What kind of compass you should choose will very much depend on your typical use. However, my general advice would be: Make it as simple as possible.
In competitive orienteering, a small revolution happened at the begining of this decade: Orienteering compasses became a lot more stable and fast over night, as it was discovered by a swedish orienteer that the home-made compasses of russian orienteers were extremely good. You cannot normally tell the difference between a normal compass, and these new compasses, unless you run or perform a simple experiment: Hold the compass flat in your hand, and let the compass needle stop. Now, turn your hand so that the needle is vertical, now you can turn yourself so that when you put the compass flat again, the needle is not pointing north. Observe how fast the needle gets back to pointing north. Actually, with a good compass, this is difficult to do, with a not so good one, it is pretty easy. You can compare how fast different compasses are.
This being said, if you are hiking and not running, a normal compass is by far stable and fast enough for you, and they come at half the prize. While hiking, I doubt you would notice the difference, I am myself not using my best compass for hiking.
So what do I mean by a 'normal compass'? A normal compass has a transparent rectangular base plate, made from some hard plastic, a completely transparent compass housing, filled with some liquid, alcohol or oil normally.
There are a number of further enhancements: Some compasses have mirror instead of the long baseplate. This is to be able to aim more accurately. Actually, this is most convenient when you do a triangulation, a technique I haven't described in these pages simply because I don't find it very useful. My experience is that the improvement is marginal, and it won't help you much if you really need to be accurate. On some compasses you can preset declination, and though I haven't tried it, I think once you've understood declination, it is easy to correct for it.
Now, you may see where I am going: To a very simple compass. All you need is a compass that you can take a course with, and point at a distant object. Why so simple? Consider this scenario: You're hiking in the mountains, with a map and a compass to guide you. Suddenly, the fog is over you, and visibility is down to a few meters (Yes, I have experienced this happening in 5 minutes). These are conditions when you may have to trust your compass with your life. Say you are walking on rocky grounds, looking frequently at your compass to keep the course. Suddenly you fall, and the compass is crushed in your hand.
Fortunately, as long as the compass needle is reasonably intact, a compass will still serve as a compass, and there is a good chance the needle will have survived the fall. Now, the first thing that happens is usually that the housing is punctured, so that the liquid pours out, or there may be a big bubble. This will make the compass a lot more unstable, so you may have to stand still for a long time to get a good bearing. The mirror some compasses have are nice as long as you have something to point at, but then, it isn't really difficult to navigate. Once the visibility is low, that is when it is really difficult, the mirror will not help you much. Additionally, a thick baseplate is more likely to have survived the fall than a mirror, and it is considerably more difficult to get a good bearing without a mirror or a long baseplate. So stick to the baseplate.
As a general principle, one can say that the more features something has, the more things can break (and as a corollary to Murphys law, it probably will...), and if you have made yourself dependent on these features, you'll be in trouble. Always learn how to cope without. Of course you may discuss this, but when something is as essential as a compass, the best way to learn to cope without nifty features, is to live without.
If you are considering buying a GPS unit, you should also consider the points above. I haven't used a GPS unit myself, but it is clear that it will open new territories for people who are not that good at navigating, which I think is very good. However, this is also a problem. There are many things that may render a GPS unit useless, among those something as trivial as a fall. A compass on the other hand is not that likely to be completely useless. The necessity of being able to navigate properly in difficult conditions without a GPS must therefore be stressed.
Many reviews of GPS units I have read give extra points to units with large displays and a intuitive user interface. I think however, that the display is probably the most vulnerable piece of the unit, and should therefore be as small as possible. Also, intuitive user interfaces are good, but of very marginal importance once you've learned to use the unit.
Let me finally introduce you to the compasses I use the most these days.
When I run orienteering, it is very important that the compass is fast and stable, and so, I use a quite expensive compass, the Silva 6 JET. It is a compass to attach to your thumb, it does not have a turnable housing, the typical use is a bit different from what I have described in the tutorials, as it is not so useful in course setting (and not that accurate), but extremely useful in keeping you oriented. I find it very good, and it has a very fast needle.
The other compass I use frequently is also a Silva compass, the Silva Starter which seems to have been replaced with the Silva Field. It is a very simple compass, made for beginners, really and should be quite inexpensive. I use this when I'm hiking.
In addition to these compasses, I've been using Suunto compasses a lot (they have a website, but it is so poorly designed it is inaccessible), and find them good. As previously noted, it was the russians who came up with the new good compasses. Silva bought their recipe imidiately afterwards for their JET series. A number of small russian companies sold very good compasses just after this happened, but few seems to have survived. I have tried one compass of MosCompass (site mostly in russian, on a slow server), and from what I can tell, they are good.
What you should go buying would depend on the issues discussed here, and what is available in your store. I would recommend looking around on the above pages and see how compasses there look, and try to find something similar. .................................................

Len walks you through step by step instructions on ways to make fire, purify water, use weapons, create and find shelter, etc. Len has constructed a concise source that is both practical and easy to understand.
A place to start reading on the basics of survival, in both urban and wilderness environments. The chapter titles lay out the fundamental topics: fire, water, food, shelter, medicine, security and defense, and coping with disasters. Appendices add: edible plants, poisonous plants, knots, and tracking.
This is a first look and an elementary look at survival. McDougall's approach is practical and assumes no prior experience or study. If you're just beginning to think about these topics, this book will orient you to the subject. As a whole, the book is colorful with pictures and focused on the very basics. It isn't going to overwhelm or intimidate beginners.
This is not a book for readers seeking intermediate or advanced instruction and techniques.
I guess you have noted all the sites that sell freeze dried/ dehydrated foods. These sites don't tell you that canned commercial food remains safe for years, although the taste and nutritional quality may suffer after time.
Many canned products now have a "for best quality use by" date stamped on the top or bottom of the can. "Expiration" dates are rarely found on canned food.
Canned food has an almost indefinite shelf life at moderate temperatures (75° Fahrenheit and below).
Store-Bought Foods
Most canned foods in grocery stores have dates stamped on them indicating when they will provide the best quality and taste, but few have true expiration dates, notes the Canned Food Alliance on its Mealtime.org website.
Commercial canning processes use heat to kill organisms that would cause spoilage, so intact cans keep food edible and safe virtually forever, the alliance notes. Peak flavor and nutrition remain for about two years, however.
Keep canned goods away from heat and moisture. The U.S. Department of Agriculture advises they don't be stored near a stove or sink, or in a damp area. Foods with a lot of acid, such as fruit or tomatoes, are best used up within a year and a half, while other canned foods remain good quality for much longer.
Throw canned foods away if the can leaks or bulges. This indicates spoilage or bacterial contamination according to the Canned Food Alliance. Dents or rust that do not cause leaks will not damage the food inside.
Reading Can Codes
Each canned food manufacturer has a unique coding system. Some manufacturers list day, month and year of production, while other companies reference only the year. These codes are usually imprinted on the top or bottom of the can. Other numbers may appear and reference the specific plant manufacturing or product information and are not useful to consumers. If you have specific questions about a company's product, most manufacturers offer a toll-free number to call for questions about canned food expiration dates

A. Yes. If it is necessary to heat canned food in the container, the top must be removed to prevent pressure build-up. The opened container may be covered loosely with a piece of aluminum foil. Then place the can in a saucepan of hot water and simmer on the stove top. Food cans should never be placed in a microwave for heating. To heat canned food in the microwave, open the can and place the contents in a microwave-safe container.
So if you want to purchase good "survival food" you don't have to purchase freeze dried/dehydrated foods that will last 20 years. Canned foods that are not damaged will also last for years and they are much cheaper.
Its almost a survival scam when it comes to some companies telling you to be prepared by buying foods that are freeze dried/dehydrated etc.
Just go to the grocery stor and stock up on canned goods. This is the best and cheapest way to be prepared.
Of course if your on the move freeze dried/dehydrated foods would be better and easier to carry in a back pack etc.
