The black hole in Ann Dunham's biography that can't be verified.

In the last year or so respected publishers have released four biographies by mainstream authors that feature, as a central fact, the birth of President Barack Obama to his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham (Ann), in 1961.

Given that there has been a certain controversy about the birth, one might expect that each of the books would, if not settle the controversy, at least deal with it intelligently. None of them does.

These books include a 2010 biography of the president, "The Bridge," by New Yorker editor David Remnick; a 2011 biography of Dunham, "A Singular Woman," by New York Times reporter Janny Scott; a 2011 biography of Barack Obama Sr., "The Other Barack," by Sally Jacobs of the Boston Globe; and a 2010 multi-generational biography of the Obama family, "The Obamas," by BBC journalist Peter Firstbrook.

Clearly, if Dunham had not given birth to Obama, none of these four books would have been written. Yet the authors are shockingly mute on the subject of Dunham's pregnancy and Obama's birth.

University of Hawaii records show that Dunham left school at the end of January in 1961, and subsequent divorce records suggest a Maui wedding on Feb. 2. This is where the paper trial ends.

As to the Maui wedding, everyone writes with uncertainty. Jacobs says only, "The couple apparently had a quiet civil ceremony." Scott writes that the wedding took place "reportedly on the island of Maui." (Italics mine)

In Remnick's account, Dunham tells no one about the wedding, but in Firstbrook's imaginative account, the parents accompany the happy couple on the trip to Maui. As Obama has conceded, there are no wedding photos and no documents.

After the wedding, Dunham disappears from the record. Not one of these authors provides the slightest hint of what she may have done or where she may have gone between Feb. 2 and Aug. 4 of 1961. Nada. Not a word.

All of these books were published with the eligibility controversy in full flower. The informed reader would expect the authors, especially Dunham's biographer Scott, to at least comment on the absence of information. None does.

The reporting on Obama's birth is, if anything, even more evasive. All four rely on the certification of live birth (COLB) first posted online in 2008 by the Daily Kos.

Since the COLB does not specify a hospital, the authors seem to have accepted Obama's post-election claim to having been born at Kapiolani. Before the election, however, news reports routinely cited Honolulu's Queen's Medical Center as Obama's birthplace.

Of the four authors, only Firstbrook acknowledges the dispute surrounding the COLB, and he does so with a proud indifference to the facts.

According to Firstbrook, the claim that the COLB is not a "proper birth certificate" was "debunked by media investigations, government officials in Hawaii, and judicial reviews."

If nothing else, when Obama presented his "proper birth certificate," one much more detailed than the COLB, he exposed the debunking for the agitprop it was. How authentic that birth certificate is, of course, remains to be seen.

As to the "media investigations," no reporters have gone into more depth about this couple and their child than the four biographers in question. And yet all are silent on the details of Obama's birth.

As to those "officials in Hawaii," one of them was Tim Adams, who served as the senior elections clerk for the City and County of Honolulu in the run-up to the 2008 election.

Adams repeats what he told the media in 2010 before being gagged by his university and menaced by the Obots and their media allies.

"There is no hospital record of [Obama's] birth in Honolulu and the Hawaii Department of Health told us in the Elections Office that there was no birth certificate."

To a person, these biographers fail to provide the kind of supporting evidence that would refute Adams' claim, either with photos or personal testimony.

There is no talk of Dunham's morning sickness, her labor pains, the worried grandparents, the frantic drive to the hospital, the grueling birth, the crying baby, the contented mom, the dubious looks from the hospital staff – the kind of details one would expect in any biography.

Nor do these biographers show any pictures of a pregnant Dunham or a newborn Obama. One has to wonder whether they could find no evidence or simply chose not to share what they did find.

The reader has no reason to trust any of them. If Firstbrook deceives through carelessness, the other three consciously dissemble to protect the Obama narrative of a loving little multicultural family.

Remnick, Jacobs and Scott all finesse the timeline to make it appear that Dunham and the baby lived with Obama Sr. for at least six months after the birth.

The verifiable paper trail, which picks up weeks after the Aug. 4 birth with Obama Sr.'s INS documents and Dunham's University of Washington records, proves otherwise.

Along with the testimony of Dunham's Seattle friends, these documents confirm that the future president, despite his claim to the contrary, never lived in a family with Ann Dunham and Obama Sr.

As I write this, Democrats in bankrupt California are attempting to buy Hispanic votes for the 2012 election. A new rule being proposed by the federal Department of Transportation would require farmers to get commercial drivers licenses.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which is a part of DOT, wants to adopt standards that would reclassify all farm vehicles and implements as Commercial Motor Vehicles, officials said. Likewise, the proposal, if adopted, would require all farmers and everyone on the farm who operates any of the equipment to obtain a CDL, they added.

The proposed rule change would mean that anyone who drives a tractor or operates any piece of motorized farming equipment would be required to pass the same tests and complete the same detailed forms and logs required of semi-tractor trailer drivers.

Drivers would keep logs of information including hours worked and miles traveled. Vehicles would be required to display DOT numbers.

If the DOT reclassifies farm vehicles and implements as commercial vehicles, the federal government will have regulatory control over the nation’s farm workers, estimated at over 800,000, by requiring them to have commercial drivers licenses.

Regulators are suggesting that all wheat shipments be considered interstate, even when farmers making short hauls to local grain elevators aren’t crossing state lines. The change would make commercial driver’s licenses — and all the log books and medical requirements that go with them — a necessity for farmers. Some might not qualify.

The licenses would also be required of farmers driving farm equipment down public roads. Farmers hauling grain for a neighbor or landlord would be considered commercial drivers hauling for someone else.

Ranchers hauling livestock in trailers as small as 16 feet would also be subject to the new rules.

Under the proposal, tractors, combines and pickup trucks hauling trailers would be regulated as commercial vehicles,” Rehberg wrote. “Producers who operate these vehicles would be required to obtain commercial driver’s licenses, medical cards and log their hours as if they were long-haul truck drivers.

Traditionally, farmers driving farm machinery have been exempt from commercial driver’s licenses, as have farmers hauling wheat, provided they didn’t cross state lines and traveled no farther than 150 air miles to the elevator.

FMCSA argues that because grain will ultimately be shipped out of state, it should be regulated as an interstate product at every transportation step. Treated as a product destined to cross state lines, grain becomes federally regulated under the commerce clause of the U.S. Constitution.

The bigger issue in the federal proposal is whether commercial driver’s licenses are required for farmers in crop-sharing agreements involving leased farmland where everyone has a stake in the crop’s sale.

The first top-to-bottom audit of the Federal Reserve uncovered eye-popping new details about how the U.S. provided a whopping $16 trillion in secret loans to bail out American and foreign banks and businesses during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. An amendment by Sen. Bernie Sanders to the Wall Street reform law passed one year ago this week directed the Government Accountability Office to conduct the study. "As a result of this audit, we now know that the Federal Reserve provided more than $16 trillion in total financial assistance to some of the largest financial institutions and corporations in the United States and throughout the world," said Sanders. "This is a clear case of socialism for the rich and rugged, you're-on-your-own individualism for everyone else."

Among the investigation's key findings is that the Fed unilaterally provided trillions of dollars in financial assistance to foreign banks and corporations from South Korea to Scotland, according to the GAO report. "No agency of the United States government should be allowed to bailout a foreign bank or corporation without the direct approval of Congress and the president," Sanders said.

The non-partisan, investigative arm of Congress also determined that the Fed lacks a comprehensive system to deal with conflicts of interest, despite the serious potential for abuse. In fact, according to the report, the Fed provided conflict of interest waivers to employees and private contractors so they could keep investments in the same financial institutions and corporations that were given emergency loans.

For example, the CEO of JP Morgan Chase served on the New York Fed's board of directors at the same time that his bank received more than $390 billion in financial assistance from the Fed. Moreover, JP Morgan Chase served as one of the clearing banks for the Fed's emergency lending programs.

In another disturbing finding, the GAO said that on Sept. 19, 2008, William Dudley, who is now the New York Fed president, was granted a waiver to let him keep investments in AIG and General Electric at the same time AIG and GE were given bailout funds. One reason the Fed did not make Dudley sell his holdings, according to the audit, was that it might have created the appearance of a conflict of interest.

To Sanders, the conclusion is simple. "No one who works for a firm receiving direct financial assistance from the Fed should be allowed to sit on the Fed's board of directors or be employed by the Fed," he said.

The investigation also revealed that the Fed outsourced most of its emergency lending programs to private contractors, many of which also were recipients of extremely low-interest and then-secret loans.

The Fed outsourced virtually all of the operations of their emergency lending programs to private contractors like JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo. The same firms also received trillions of dollars in Fed loans at near-zero interest rates. Altogether some two-thirds of the contracts that the Fed awarded to manage its emergency lending programs were no-bid contracts. Morgan Stanley was given the largest no-bid contract worth $108.4 million to help manage the Fed bailout of AIG.

A more detailed GAO investigation into potential conflicts of interest at the Fed is due on Oct. 18, but Sanders said one thing already is abundantly clear. "The Federal Reserve must be reformed to serve the needs of working families, not just CEOs on Wall Street."

The Executive Order seems to be in line with the United Nations radical Agenda 21, as it is designed “to begin taking control over almost all aspects of the lives of 16 percent of the American people.”

Ehe Executive Order references “sustainable rural communities,” and that is one of the key phrases found in the UN plan for sustainable development known as Agenda 21.

The federal government will seemingly control every aspect of rural America.

The order’s mention of “nongovernmental organizations” (NGOs) should be disconcerting, as NGOs are unelected, often government-funded organizations that are key to Agenda 21.

Not a single department in the federal government has excluded from the new White House Rural Council, and the wild card option in number 25 gives the president and the agricultural secretary the option to designate anyone to serve on this powerful council.”

Even more notable than the levels of power being achieved by the creation of this new council is the various connections to Agenda 21.

For example, Valerie Jarrett served as a member on the board of the Local Initiatives Support Coalition (LISC), which uses the language of Agenda 21 and ICLEI [International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives] as their webpage descriptively explains the organization’s work to build “sustainable communities.”

Likewise, Melody Barnes is the former Vice President of the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress. Soros is a prime advocate of Agenda 21 and in fact, his Open Society provided $2,147,415 to ICLEI.

Additionally, Hilda Solis and Nancy Sutley, through their environmental endeavors, appear to be connected to Agenda 21. In 2000, Solis received an award for her work on “Environmental Justice.” Sutley served on the Los Angeles Metropolitan Water District and supported the low-flow toilets, which are now being revealed as costing more money and creating an odor problem in the city of San Francisco.

Finally, the timing of the Executive Order is a bit suspicious, since the administration is meeting with a number of Agenda 21 operatives at the end of the month.

There is real evidence in the report that Hall and her staff ignored or discredited bona fide complaints of cheating, especially when the allegations were about high-scoring schools that were winning accolades. The report shows a willful effort within APS to maintain the pretense that Hall was a miracle-worker.

The 800-page report names 178 educators, including 38 principals, as participants in cheating, including erasing and correcting mistakes on students’ answer sheets. It concentrates on, but was not limited to, state tests given in 2009.

More than 80 Atlanta Public School employees confessed. The investigators said they confirmed cheating in 44 of 56 schools they examined.

Culminating a 10-month investigation, the report found widespread cheating in Atlanta schools and says Hall ignored a culture of cheating, cover-ups and obstruction that blossomed during her 12-year tenure.

Incidentally, Ms. Hall was honored as the national superintendent of the year last year, and she's involved here in the cheating scandal. Liberals always elevate their failures.

Peter Falk, TV's rumpled Columbo, has died

LOS ANGELES – Peter Falk, the stage and movie actor who became identified as the squinty, rumpled detective in "Columbo," which spanned 30 years in prime-time television and established one of the most iconic characters in movie police work, has died. He was 83.

Falk died Thursday in his Beverly Hills home, according to a statement released Friday by family friend Larry Larson.

In a court document filed in December 2008, Falk's daughter Catherine Falk said her father was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

"Columbo" began its history in 1971 as part of the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie series, appearing every third week. The show became by far the most popular of the three mysteries, the others being "McCloud" and "McMillan and Wife."

Falk was reportedly paid $250,000 a movie and could have made much more if he had accepted an offer to convert "Columbo" into a weekly series. He declined, reasoning that carrying a weekly detective series would be too great a burden.

Columbo — he never had a first name — presented a contrast to other TV detectives. "He looks like a flood victim," Falk once said. "You feel sorry for him. He appears to be seeing nothing, but he's seeing everything. Underneath his dishevelment, a good mind is at work."

NBC canceled the three series in 1977. In 1989 ABC offered "Columbo" in a two-hour format usually appearing once or twice a season. The movies continued into the 21st century. "Columbo" appeared in 26 foreign countries and was a particular favorite in France and Iran.

Columbo's trademark was an ancient raincoat Falk had once bought for himself. After 25 years on television, the coat became so tattered it had to be replaced.

Peter Michael Falk was born Sept. 16, 1927, in New York City and grew up in Ossining, N.Y., where his parents ran a clothing store. At 3 he had one eye removed because of cancer. "When something like that happens early," he said in a 1963 Associated Press interview, "you learn to live with it. It became the joke of the neighborhood. If the umpire ruled me out on a bad call, I'd take the fake eye out and hand it to him."

When Falk was starting as an actor in New York, an agent told him, "Of course, you won't be able to work in movies or TV because of your eye." Falk would later win two Oscar nominations ("Murder, Inc.," 1960; "Pocketful of Miracles," 1961) and collect five Emmys.

After serving as a cook in the merchant marine and receiving a master's degree in public administration from Syracuse University, he worked as an efficiency expert for the budget bureau of the state of Connecticut. He also acted in amateur theater and was encouraged to become a professional by actress-teacher Eva La Gallienne.

An appearance in "The Iceman Cometh" off-Broadway led to other classical parts, notably as Joseph Stalin in "The Passion of Joseph D." In 1971 Falk scored a hit in Neil Simon's "The Prisoner of Second Avenue."

Falk made his film debut in 1958 with "Wind Across the Everglades" and established himself as a talented character actor with his performance as the vicious killer Abe Reles in "Murder, Inc." Among his other movies: "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," "Robin and the Seven Hoods," "The Great Race," "Luv," "Castle Keep," "The Cheap Detective," "The Brinks Job," "The In-Laws," "The Princess Bride."

Falk also appeared in a number of art house favorites, including the semi-improvisational films "Husbands" and "A Woman Under the Influence," directed by his friend John Cassavetes, and Wim Wenders' "Wings of Desire," in which he played himself. Falk became prominent in television movies, beginning with his first Emmy for "The Price of Tomatoes" in 1961. His four other Emmys were for "Columbo."

He was married to pianist Alyce Mayo in 1960; they had two daughters, Jackie and Catherine, and divorced in 1976. The following year he married actress Shera Danese. They filed for divorce twice and reconciled each time.

When not working, Falk spent time in the garage of his Beverly Hills home. He had converted it into a studio where he created charcoal drawings. He took up art in New York when he was in the Simon play and one day happened into the Art Students League.

He recalled: "I opened a door and there she was, a nude model, shoulders back, a light from above, buck-ass naked. The female body is awesome. Believe me, I signed up right away."

Falk is survived by his wife Shera and his two daughters.

"President" Barack Obama’s administration is quietly offering a quasi-amnesty for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants aiming to win reelection by mobilizing a wave of new Hispanic voters without alienating the populous at large, say supporters of stronger immigration law enforcement.

The new rules were quietly announced Friday with a new memo from top officials at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The “prosecutorial discretion” memo says officials need not enforce immigration laws if illegal immigrants are enrolled in an education center or if their relatives have volunteered for the US military.

“They’re pushing the [immigration] agents to be even more lax, to go further in not enforcing the law,” said Kris Kobach, Kansas’ secretary of state. “At a time when millions of Americans are unemployed and looking for work, this is more bad news coming from the Obama administration… [if the administration] really cared about putting Americans back to work, it would be vigorously enforcing the law,” he said.


“We think it is an excellent step,” said Laura Vasquez, at the Hispanic-advocacy group, La Raza, which pushed for the policies, and which is working with other groups to register Hispanics to vote in 2012. “What’s very important is how the prosecutorial discretion memo is implemented” on the streets, she said.

The Hispanic vote could be crucial in the 2012 election, because the Obama campaign hopes to offset its declining poll ratings by registering new Hispanic voters in crucial swing states, such as Virginia and North Carolina.

To boost the Hispanic vote, the administration has enlisted support from Hispanic media figures, appointed an experienced Hispanic political operative to run the political side of the Obama reelection campaign, and has maintained close ties to Hispanic advocacy groups, including La Raza. For example, La Raza’s former senior vice president and lobbyist, Cecilia Munoz, was hired by the Obama administration as director of intergovernmental affairs in 2009.

On Friday, officials at ICE announced several new administrative changes to immigration enforcement.

The primary document was the six-page “prosecutorial discretion” memo, which provided new reasons for officials to not deport illegal immigrants.

(Obama is an illegal alien because he has not provided any validated proof of his US citizenship. An edited copy of a document using other birth documents presented as a valid birth certificate is not proof of obama's US citizenship. An abstract substituted for a copy of an original hospital birth certificate that could be validated is not proof of obama's US citizenship but proof he cannot validate his US citizenship.
