Greenville County Sheriff's Office said a 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of an Uber driver in Greenville SC in 2017. |
Mike Mecklenburg was driving for Uber in April 2017 when he was shot to death. |
The sheriff's office said in a news release that investigators believe the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Joseph Jovanti Johnson III, shot Mecklenburg in the head after Meckenburg dropped off a passenger on Power Street. |
Johnson lived on the street. Deputies say Johnson "engaged Mecklenburg in an unprovoked verbal altercation that eventually resulted in Johnson firing a single shot, striking Mecklenburg in the head." |
Last month, a news agency's segment on the shooting death led to a tip implicating Johnson's involvement.
Editor Note:
Johnson started an unprovoked altercation with an uber driver. Johnson shot the uber driver in the head. |
I wish the uber driver, Michael Mecklenberg of Greenville SC, had shot johnson instead.
It is obvious he could have defended himself using a weapon if he was threatened. |
I hope Johnson gets the death penalty and the electric chair, he deserves it. |
Scum like Johnson think they can get away with their crime but their crimes catch up with them eventually.
Get a CWA permit to carry in SC. | If you drive a car you don't need one in SC. |
Protect yourself against people like Johnson.
